More about Fresher's Week Branded Giveaways
What is freshers week? What are freshers week branded giveaways?
Freshers week is the first week that all the new students at university move in; on the cusp of a big adventure.
Before classes start, events around the campus help them mingle and get to know one another; allowing students to settle in and find their feet.
The events include parties, socials and picnics. Other events, held offsite by local businesses who offer exclusive freshers-friendly events, (typically bars and clubs get in on this, but other businesses like restaurants and retail offer student shopping nights where the shopping centres stay open late and they can get mega discounts in-store!)
Usually, the students union organise a freshers fair, where the uni’s clubs and societies will advertise themselves and try to get new sign-ups. Local businesses attend the fair, to showcase what they have to offer; with interesting displays and freebies to take away with them.

Freshers week is what they call the week that most new students at university move into their accommodation, (student halls) and then embark on a week of fun events, get-to-know the city / University / other students, its basically a way of helping them settle in and distract them from the homesickness before classes start.
A lot of events will be held and organised by the university and the Students Union, including onsite parties and meet and greets, but a lot of local businesses also get involved, particularly bars and clubs who will hold freshers only nights and give them discounted prices etc. There is also usually a freshers fair, where the students will gather a range of free promotional items.
No, the freshers fair is for clubs and societies within the uni, the students union and even local businesses to introduce themselves to the new year group and to help them gather information about what's available to them in their area.
Before the event, supply them with a bespoke branded wristband that they must be wearing for entry. That way only those that were supplied wristbands will be present.
As a local business, you want freshers to have a good impression of you, or they won't shop with you or attend your business. Offering things they'll be interested in will go a long way to get them to having a good impression of you. Check out our handy blog that tells you all about it!
It's a wild time for a lot of freshers, a lot will have just left home for the first time, and its a big scary world! Obviously offering your support through the uni's wellbeing service is the best way to help, but you could also look into getting something that will comfort them outside of office hours. How about a mental health kit? or you could get them a breakfast box for their first morning. Even things like the hangover survival kit, as these small things go a long way to showing them that there are people that care about them, even on bad days.
We'd always suggest things like keyrings with your logo on for smaller budgets. Check out this t-shirt shaped keyring, ideal for any team-related promotion.
When I was a student, we got branded sunglasses, colourful lanyards, and wristbands at freshers fair from clubs and bars. These things are great for general promotion, but if you have the budget for it, I would recommend going for something like our "Hangover Survival Kit in a Tin". It's novelty, its useful and also thoughtful!
